A Taste For Hell

Frankie Wolfe loves her spooky little life. The only witch living out of the broom closet in the cute and creepy town of Sawtooth Bay, her business keeps her busy casting out demons, cleansing houses, and exterminating supernatural beings for her clients. Her shop, The Black Cat, offers a cozy barrier between the townspeople of Sawtooth Bay and herself—and she plans to keep it that way. But that’s before a guy with a curse comes crashing through her doors.

Fresh out of grad school and lacking direction, Evan Lawson can no longer outrun the family curse slowly killing his grandmother, Agatha. Who cast the curse and why remains a mystery, and he’ll have to rely on the skills of a grumpy, tattooed witch for his salvation. Evan doesn’t believe in anything—certainly not spirits—but he’ll do what he must to help his grandmother in her final weeks.

As the pair pulls back the supernatural veil that covers the town, Evan and Frankie will have to find a way to stop fighting and unravel the curse before Agatha succumbs to her illness. Forced together for this job, they’ll face spirits, monsters, and shadows from their past to find their culprit, and in doing so, decide if they can ignore the crackling chemistry they share.

With a balance of coziness and spookiness, grief and joyous found family, spicy and sweet scenes, A Taste For Hell is the start of a new urban romantasy series that delves into the pains of healing, and learning to let someone in.

Spooky & cozy, with big time emotional depth

“This genre morphing rom-com-gone-spooky captured me from the first chapter! Kendall McKenzie’s writing somehow manages to blend everything you love about a spicy beach read with truly gnarly horror scenes, while also packing in depth of character that you don’t always find in either category. I laughed out loud, I teared up multiple times, and I’m highly recommending to everyone I know! Can’t wait for the next one.”

The spooky season vibe you’ve been dreaming of

“Y’all. I cannot tell you the last time I read an entire book in one day, but I can tell you that the last time I was this engrossed in a series, it was Harry Potter.

The vibe of this book is New England autumn + all your favorite spooky season jams (Wednesday, the craft, chilling adventures of Sabrina, practical magic, a touch of hocus pocus, etc) and I AM HERE FOR IT.

TL;DR if you’re looking for something special to immerse yourself into spooky season, THIS IS IT. Also, I’m ready for the next book in this expected series!”
